Before and after of restored solid wood church doors

Wood is one of the most enduring and character-defining materials used in architectural history, yet it is also susceptible to decay, wear, and environmental damage.

At Phoenix Restoration, we specialize in the complex rehabilitation of commercial and historical wood structures, buildings, and architectural elements. Whether restoring centuries-old buildings or modern commercial spaces with intricate wood features, we bring craftsmanship, experience, and dedication to every project.

Our portfolio includes a wide range of prestigious projects. From replicating the solid oak doors at Union Station to restoring the historical Markham Blacksmith Shop which dates back to 1862, we have proven our expertise in reinforcing wood structures and preserving their architectural history.

Complex Rehabilitation of Historic Wood Structures

At Phoenix Restoration, we approach each project with a deep respect for the history and cultural significance of each building we work on and tailor our restoration techniques to its specific needs. Whether it’s a Victorian-era home turned museum, a historical landmark, or a commercial property with legacy wood elements, we ensure that every detail is preserved.

Our team specializes in the restoration of wood details such as ornate trim, doors, window frames, and beams, always striving to maintain the historical and architectural integrity of the structure.

Replicating and Restoring Wood Elements In-House

At Phoenix Restoration, our work extends beyond on-site repairs. We have a dedicated wood and millwork plant which allows us to replicate and restore even the most intricate wooden elements in-house.

It is fully equipped to fabricate millwork, historical doors, windows, moulding, trim, flooring, wall panelling and crown moulding from scratch and according to client specifications.

If the original wood elements are beyond repair, we can replicate them with high accuracy using salvaged and reclaimed materials. If that is not possible, we will source old-growth wood and hard-to-find materials to preserve the architectural character of the building and to ensure the restorations remain true to the original design.

Our experience includes the replication of church entrance doors, hotel lobby, feature doors and commercial window trims. We can safely remove and transport your structural and decorative elements to our plant if the repair can not be done in situ. As well as shore structure beams or columns, or securely seal off access points such as doors or windows during the removal process.

We have found that by restoring and replicating wood elements in-house, we can ensure products meet industry standards and project specifications in a fraction of the time it takes subcontractors.

The plant is overseen by our wood workshop manager and manned by expert carpenters who can identify the type of wood, varnish and joinery of each piece of wood that comes into our workshop. They have a deep understanding of detailed architectural drawings, schematics, shop drawings, and blueprints to complete any project at hand.
